Essential Oils for Neck Pain

Any kind of body pain is hurting, especially neck pain can cause a lot of discomfort. Neck pain can be due to any reason, even carrying a heavy bag or poor sleeping posture can leave you with annoying neck pain.

The widely used remedies for neck aches are anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers. However, if neck pain can be treated naturally, what can be better than that?

We are fortunate as the aromatic pure essential oils can do the trick and quickly relieve muscle pain. Essential oils have shown positive results in relieving pain, reducing spasms, and also lessening muscle pain, swelling, and tension. 

There are a number of time-tested essential oils that have shown effective results in relieving neck pain. 

Best essential oils for neck pain:

Chamomile essential oil

How to use essential oils?

Essential oils can irritate your skin, particularly when you are applying topically. Better than using the essential oils individually blend them with suitable carrier oils before application. Blending essential oils will make the oil more effective in pain. You can follow the 2% of dilution rule. The ratio should be 5 to 10 drops of essential oil in 50 ml of carrier oil. 

Suitable carrier oils

Coconut oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, and olive oil are the best carrier oils that can be blended with any of the above essential oil and used to relieve neck pain. 

Recipes with essential oils for neck pain –

To get rid of muscle tension – Blend any carrier oil with 2 drops of Lavender essential oil and 2 drops of Marjoram essential oil.

To release stress in muscles – Blend any carrier oil with 2 drops of Peppermint essential oil and 2 drops of Lavender essential oil.

To relieve severe tension and pain in the neck – Blend any carrier oil with 3 drops of Peppermint essential oil, 3 drops of Lavender essential oil, 2 drops of Marjoram essential oil, and 2 drops of Basil essential oil.

To normalize stiff muscles – Mix 10 to 12 drops of any essential oil with an ounce of carrier oil.  Let it disperse in your bathing water and have a relaxing bath.

Blending essential oil and carrier oil is a must, especially if you have sensitive skin. Anybody who is pregnant or allergic should avoid using essential oil. Avoid ingesting essential oil, it is better to inhale using a diffuser or applying topically.
